Welcome to Our Support Groups
Support Groups at Avery Heights: A Community of Care & Connection
At Avery Heights, we recognize the importance of emotional and social well-being, particularly in life’s later stages. Our support groups are a welcoming space for residents and their families to connect, share experiences, and find guidance.
Parkinson’s Caregiver Support Group
In partnership with the Connecticut Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, The Heights offers a support group for those caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease or Parkinsonism. This group provides a safe and supportive environment to share experiences, learn from others, develop coping strategies, and manage challenges.
Meetings are open to the public on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30 AM. For more information, contact Siobhan Mattingly at smattingly@churchhomes.org or (860) 953-1201, ext. 403.
Caregivers Support Group
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or memory loss comes with unique challenges. Our Caregiver Support Group provides a welcoming space for family and friends to gather, share, listen, and learn practical caregiving skills.
Holly Taylor-Fry, CTRS, Certified Dementia Practitioner and Director of Burnham FamilyMemory Care Residence, and Roseanne Holland, LCSW, Resident Services Coordinator, facilitate this monthly meeting at The Heights at Avery Heights.
For details on upcoming meetings, contact Holly at htaylor-fry@churchhomes.org or Roseanne at rholland@churchhomes.org.
At Avery Heights, no one walks this journey alone. Join us in creating a community of support, understanding, and connection.
